Arctic Glaze design and install thermally efficient, secondary glazing for a period property located in the heart of Cambridge.
We were contacted by a Cambridge based homeowner to design and install bespoke Secondary Glazing to make their home warmer, this period property features original timber casement bay windows. To treat the draughty windows, we specified a combination of Horizontal Sliding, Hinged and Lift Out Secondary Glazing.
We coupled Hinged Secondary Glazing with two Lift Outs to treat the original bay windows, Hinged Secondary Glazing features one single pane of glass and opens outwards to provide full access to the primary window for cleaning and maintenance.

To match the sight-lines and to provide a discreet aesthetic Horizontal Sliding Secondary Glazing was specified to treat some of the windows. Horizontal Sliding Secondary Glazing is an extremely versatile window system, the glazed panels slide on durable brass rollers where each panel can be lifted out to provide access to the primary window.
"Specifying Secondary Glazing to help minimise heat loss and to reduce energy consumption is growing in popularity, especially for homeowners living in Period and Listed Properties. Our bespoke Secondary Glazing is manufactured from slimline aluminium and specifically designed to minimise heat loss while providing a discreet aesthetic. We can couple our secondary glazed systems together, meaning we can treat large areas or bay windows such as the bay windows on this project. We were delighted to be chosen to carry out the secondary glazing installation for this Listed Property and to help preserve the charm and character of this family home while making it warmer."
