Arctic Glaze design and install slimline secondary glazing for a period rail house designed to minimise heat loss and increase thermal insulation.
Like many period property homeowners, this Suffolk based homeowner wanted an unobtrusive solution to help prevent cold draughts, minimise heat loss and lower energy consumption. As a result Arctic Glaze was invited to the property to discuss how Secondary Glazing could help.
To provide an unobtrusive aesthetic, Arctic Glaze recommended the installation of horizontal sliders (designed to treat casement windows) with 4mm toughened Low-E glass. To provide optimum thermal insulation the slimline secondary glazing system was installed as close to the primary window as possible.

Horizontal Sliding Secondary Glazing is often installed to thermally and acoustically treat timber casement windows. The slimline aluminium frames are manufactured to match the splits in the primary window providing an unobtrusive aesthetic. To match the colour of the timber casement windows, the slimline secondary glazing was powder coated in Ochre Brown (RAL 8001), one of the 100s of powder coated colours available.
Horizontal sliding secondary glazing can be manufactured with up to 5 glazed panels, the glazed panels horizontally slide from left to right on durable brass rollers and can be lifted out of the secondary glazing outer frame to provide full access for cleaning and timber window maintenance.
"I can't recommend Arctic Glazing enough. Jonathan was extremely knowledgeable and helpful at the consultation visit and more than delivered with his visit for fitting. The colour match in our period property was spot on, he was clean and organised with the fit and the results are outstanding - the secondary glazing is almost invisible and when you do notice it, bizarrely, it adds to the look of the original windows.'
Michael Stubbs - Homeowner
"Our range of custom secondary glazing is specifically designed to minimise heat loss and to reduce energy consumption. Our knowledge and sympathetic approach allows us to retain the character of period properties while increasing thermal insulation. Our slimline secondary glazing frames offer an unobtrusive aesthetic and can be designed to match the style and function of all window types. For this unique property located in Suffolk, we installed horizontal sliding secondary glazing which is perfectly designed to be installed with casement windows, the glazing panels are manufactured to match the sightlines of the primary windows making the secondary glazing installation invisible from the exterior of the building.'
