Secondary Glazing for a New Property

Nottingham – West Bridgford

Here we have one of the most tranquilly designed homes we have ever been in. The client in this property had sensitive ears and asked us if Secondary Glazing would help reduce the amount of noise coming through their windows, which in this case were new triple glazed timber primary.

Noise Can affect the human ear in very different ways and in some cases be very disruptive to a person’s life, whether it’s working from home or when it comes to laying your head down for that perfect night’s sleep after a hard day’s work, outside noise can become an unwanted distraction.

In this case, the client suffered from the noise whilst sleeping and relaxing in the living room with both backing onto a road. Working with the owner to establish the specification of their primary windows we were able to best advise them on the best glass options to maximise the benefits of the Secondary Glazing.

Decibels and sound frequencies travel through glass in different ways and while going for the triple glazed primary unit may be slightly beneficial, it’s still not enough for a sensitive ear. Due to them having a triple glazed unit built up of 4mm glass we decided to add a 6.4 mm Acoustic Laminated glass which would work against the sound frequencies passing through the 4mm to ensure maximum sound insulation.

Our team of specialists installed 2 pane Horizontal Sliders to compliment the primary windows regarding the sight lines. The client opted for the standard white finish, which coupled against the timber had the added benefit of brightening the room.

The results spoke for themselves and the finish with a huge reduction in outside noise entering the property and the client was very satisfied with the results and aesthetics of the installation.
