Arctic Glaze has eliminated cold draughts, reduced condensation and increased thermal insulation for a Grade II Listed home situated in Leeds.
Traditional single glazed windows can be problematic for homeowners of period properties, the original timber frames and single glazed panels offer minimal thermal insulation resulting in high energy costs and a cold home. As a result, a Leeds based homeowner contacted Arctic Glaze to help specify and install Secondary Glazing designed to minimise heat loss and lower energy consumption for their Grade II Listed property.
With a range of primary window styles, Arctic Glaze specified the installation of Horizontal Sliding, Vertical Sliding and Hinged Secondary Glazing manufactured with Low-E glass. To match the colour of the period windows, the slimline aluminium frames were powder coated in white and custom black.

Where heat loss is a concern, Low-E glass is often recommended as it reflects heat back into the room. A microscopic coating less than the thickness of a human hair is applied to the glass, this coating provides optimum thermal performance and often decreases heat loss by as much as 60%.
With a variety of window styles and the Grade II Listed status of the property, it was vital that the Secondary Glazing system provided an unobtrusive and discreet aesthetic. With the majority of our Secondary Glazing installations, we need to ensure that the Secondary Glazed system is not visible from the exterior of the building.
