Arctic Glaze design and install thermally efficient, shaped secondary glazing for traditional lead lined arched windows.
We were contacted by an Islington based homeowner to specify and install a range of Secondary Glazing designed to increase thermal insulation for their Grade II property.
The renovated church features several lead lined arched windows set in traditional stone mullions. Our slimline secondary glazed systems are manufactured from durable aluminium allowing us to match the shape and style of the period windows.
To match the style and function of the traditional primary windows, Arctic Glaze specified the installation of Horizontal Sliding, Arched Lift Out and Arched Hinged Secondary Glazing.

With the large size of the central arched window, we needed to design a slimline stacked secondary glazed system that allowed access to the primary window for routine cleaning and maintenance. As a result, we specified a 3-pane horizontal slider with a stacked arched lift out. These secondary glazed systems feature lift-out panels where the glazed panels can be lifted out of the frame to provide full access to the primary window. When installing secondary glazing within stone mullions, we often recommend black powder-coated frames to provide a complementary aesthetic.
"Highly recommend Arctic Glaze. We live in a converted church with large arched windows we wanted secondary glazed. Jonathan was super attentive when speccing the job - we wanted to maintain the character of the original windows and he spent a lot of time getting the design just right. The installation went really smoothly on the day - the team were very considerate and tidy. We are really happy with the finished result. The windows look great and the finish is excellent. The house is a lot warmer and quieter. Thank you Jonathan and team."
