Arctic Glaze provide an acoustic solution for The Garden Cinema based in Camden with 72 Secondary Glazed units
Situated in the heart of Camden, this Grade II historic building is the home to an independent cinema with two large movie screens. Located above The Garden Cinema is a shared office space where the building showcases over 60 period box sash windows with traditional single glazing.
Noise from the main road was persistent, where the property owners required an acoustic solution to block noise breaching the period windows. As the building is listed as a site of historic importance, alterations could not be made to the primary windows.

Arctic Glaze were contracted by Granada Glazing to install secondary glazing with 4mm toughened glass. To retain the character of the historic building, the secondary glazing was carefully designed and installed to match the function and the aesthetic of each primary window. In total 72 secondary glazed units were designed, manufactured and installed to enhance the acoustic insulation whilst substantially decreasing heat loss.
The discreet secondary glazed installation was completed over a duration of four days. To provide a neat and unobtrusive aesthetic each window was finished with a finishing trim matching the colour of the bespoke aluminium secondary glazing.
Balanced Vertical Sliders match the style and function of timber box sash windows. The individual panels are supported by durable spiral balances, these balances allow the panels to remain open in any position. In total Arctic Glaze carefully installed 60 Balanced Vertical Sliders. Two Pane Horizontal Sliders are often installed to treat casement windows, they slide on durable brass rollers. To provide full access to the primary windows for cleaning the panels can be lifted out of the outer frame.
