Secondary Glazing for Noise Reduction

Secondary Glazing for Busy Flight Path

Arctic Glaze was specified to install bespoke secondary glazing designed to reduce noise levels from a busy flight path.

We were contacted by a Nottinghamshire based homeowner to design and install bespoke Secondary Glazing to reduce noise levels from low flying planes. This property located in Nottingham is situated under the flight path from East Midlands airport. To acoustically treat the primary windows, we specified 3 pane horizontal sliders with 10.8mm acoustic laminated glass.

Horizontal sliding secondary glazing is extremely popular due to it being multi-functional and a perfect fit for most domestic and commercial properties. Each panel can be individually lifted out of the outer frame allowing you to easily clean the rear of the panels and to provide total access to the primary windows.

For buildings that are subject to a large amount of noise or with slim window reveals, we advise installing acoustic laminated glass which is designed to provide enhanced acoustic insulation by minimising low-frequency noise from entering your home. Where vehicles are the primary noise source, they often emit low-frequency soundwaves that can be challenging to block. Speciality acoustic glass is particularly effective at blocking noise from vehicles as it is made from laminated glass with a PVB (Polyvinyl butyral) interlayer. This interlayer is designed to absorb noise breaching the first glass pane.

"We're very happy with the installation of secondary glazing, we have noticed the benefits immediately both in terms of noise reduction and warmth. I would fully recommend Arctic Glaze for and secondary glazing installations."
