Arctic Glaze installs thermally efficient Secondary Glazing to help reduce heating costs for the Courthouse Restaurant.
Located in the heart of Bolton, The Courthouse Restaurant and Bar required a thermally efficient glazing solution to help reduce monthly heating costs of over £2,500. The historic building holds a listed status that prohibited the installation of new windows. To provide a warm dining environment and to lower the current heating cost, Arctic Glaze recommended the installation of bespoke Secondary Glazing with Low-E thermal glass.
To provide an invisible external aesthetic and to match the newly refurbished interior, Arctic Glaze installed ten Heritage Hinged Units that were powder-coated in anthracite grey – RAL 7016.
"This was my first-time using Arctic Glaze and I have to say, I’m very impressed. Ollie was great and ensured the process ran smoothly from start to finish and nothing was too much trouble. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Arctic Glaze whether it is a domestic or commercial project you are running."

Our Hinged Secondary Glazing is a genuinely discreet Secondary Glazing system with no transoms or mullions to spoil the view. They offer full access to the primary window allowing you to easily maintain and clean the primary window and the rear of the Secondary Glazed Panel.
Low-E glass is often specified for buildings that require enhanced thermal insulation. A specialised microscopic coating is applied to the glass and is designed to reflect heat back into the room. Furthermore, the Secondary Glazed system creates a seal between the primary glazing and the interior of the building, and this seal prevents cold draughts from entering the property and helps to lock in the warmth. As the project was specified to provide enhanced thermal insulation, we estimate that the restaurant will receive lower heating costs of around 40 to 50 percent.
The Secondary Glazed Installation was successfully completed in one day, allowing the Bar and Restaurant to open as normal in the evening.
